Before choosing where to stay

Where to Base

It is recommended to stay in the historic old town or the seaside area. The old town offers historical atmosphere and scenic views, while the seaside area provides easy access to beaches and sunsets. Both locations are suitable for travelers seeking high-quality accommodation with distinct character.

Getting Around

Tropea does not have its own airport. Travelers should first reach nearby major transport hubs and then transfer by train or car. The old town features narrow streets, so walking is the best way to explore, though visitors should be prepared for some steep inclines.

Best Season

Summer is the peak season for seaside activities, ideal for swimming and beach relaxation. Spring and autumn offer pleasant weather and fewer crowds, making them perfect for enjoying the tranquil cultural atmosphere and dramatic cliffside views without the summer rush.

De' Minimi

Restaurant€€€678 m

Situated within the beautiful Villa Paola hotel just outside Tropea, this gourmet restaurant is named after the Frati Minimi (Order of Minims) who once occupied this old monastery. The modern and occasionally creative cuisine here is showcased on 4-, 5-, 7- and 9-course tasting menus (San Tommaso, Miserie e Nobiltà, Di Necessità Virtù, La Novena ), all of which are prepared from the best Calabrian ingredients including many vegetables and citrus fruit grown on the property. The small wine list also has a regional focus and is complemented by a choice of cocktails served at the bar.
