Where to Base
For hotel travelers, the best areas to base are near the La Pelosa beach for immediate access to the iconic sands and turquoise waters, or in the village center of San Terenzano. Staying in San Terenzano offers easier access to local restaurants, shops, and authentic Sardinian atmosphere, while beachfront properties provide stunning sunrise views. Both locations offer a peaceful retreat away from crowded tourist hubs.
Airport Connection
Stintino does not have its own airport. The closest major airport is Sassari Airport (SSA), located approximately 35 kilometers southeast. Travelers can reach Stintino from Sassari via rental car, taxi, or local bus services, with the drive taking roughly 45 minutes to an hour depending on traffic. Alternatively, Olbia-Costa Smeralda Airport is further but offers more international connections, requiring a longer transfer. Renting a car is highly recommended for flexibility in exploring the surrounding coastal areas.
Best Season
The optimal time to visit Stintino for hotel stays is between May and September when the weather is sunny and the sea is warm enough for swimming. July and August are peak months, offering vibrant energy but also higher crowds; early booking is essential. Spring (April-May) and autumn (September-October) provide milder temperatures, fewer tourists, and excellent conditions for hiking along the coastal trails and photography, making them ideal for travelers seeking a quieter experience.
