Orient Bay

Orient Bay, located on the east coast of Saint Martin, is the most popular beach destination on the French side of the island. Developed since 1985, it offers a vibrant coastal atmosphere. Although damaged by Hurricanes Luis and Irma, repairs have restored its appeal. The southern section is known for naturism, while the rest of the bay provides a relaxed setting ideal for travelers seeking sun and sea.

Before choosing where to stay

Where to Base

As the island's most popular beach, Orient Bay is the prime location for accommodation. Hotels line the coast, offering direct beach access. The southern end suits those preferring a naturist-friendly vibe, while the northern areas offer a more lively social scene.

Getting Around

The primary gateway is Princess Juliana International Airport (SXM). Reaching Orient Bay takes approximately 20-30 minutes by taxi or rental car. Public transport is limited, so renting a car or walking is the best way to explore the surrounding beaches and amenities.

Best Season

The climate is warm year-round, but travelers should be aware of the hurricane season (June to November). While infrastructure has been largely restored, checking weather forecasts is advisable. The dry season (December to May) offers the best conditions for beach activities and outdoor exploration.
