€€Traditional Cuisine
Completely surrounded by nature, in the heart of the Serranía de Cuenca and opposite the turn-off that takes us to the source of the Cuervo river, this rustic restaurant is perfect if you are looking for a little disconnection, or the warmth of the firewood in winter. They offer traditional cuisine that does everything possible to make the most of the surroundings, with good game meats and mushrooms in season (we loved their Revuelto de boletus y perrechicos).

Sierra Alta, situated near the source of the Cuervo River, specializes in traditional mountain cuisine. Food quality is generally praised, with highlights including garlic stew, morteruelo, migas, and venison loin. Some guests note excellent presentation and freshness, while others find portions small or flavors underwhelming. Service is typically professional and warm, though pacing can be slow during peak times. The ambiance is cozy and nature-oriented, offering a pleasant dining experience, although some seating arrangements may be less comfortable. While the setting and regional dishes are appealing, a minority of reviewers express concerns regarding value for money and portion sizes.

€€Traditional Cuisine, Regional European
Part of the Leonor de Aquitania hotel, where it occupies the former stables of an aristocratic stone mansion. Updated traditional cuisine and interesting set menus.

Located in Cuenca's historic center, Raff San Pedro specializes in traditional regional European cuisine. Reviews frequently praise the high quality of ingredients, professional preparation, and cozy atmosphere, with specific mentions of tender venison and excellent garlic dishes. Service is generally described as friendly and attentive. However, negative feedback highlights inconsistent meal pacing, occasional service rudeness, and issues with food temperature or blandness. Some guests find the value for money lacking, particularly regarding tasting menus, and note that while the setting is beautiful, table conditions can sometimes be rustic. Overall, the restaurant offers a mixed experience where culinary excellence is balanced against variable service and perceived high costs.
Suitable for diners seeking high-quality traditional cuisine who can tolerate occasional service inconsistencies.
€€Contemporary
This restaurant has plenty of history behind it, given that it occupies a building located next to the city’s famous “hanging houses” which was once used as a store house. The surprising interior, featuring minimalist and modern furnishings, provides the backdrop for contemporary cuisine that reinterprets well-known local dishes. You will find à la carte service and two interesting tasting menus with a wine-pairing option, one a shorter 4-course version (only available Wednesday to Friday), the other a longer 6-course menu.
€€€Modern Cuisine
Run by a young couple and... gaining more and more fans in the mountains of Cuenca every day! Here, always with a modern approach that makes the most of seasonal products, everything revolves around two menus, a fixed menu called Fuentelgato and another called Carta Blanca that varies in the number of dishes, ingredients and prices, since it is aimed, as they themselves say, at those who like to enjoy themselves the most.

Located in the remote village of Cañete, Fuentelgato offers modern cuisine focused on seasonal ingredients, particularly fish and vegetables. Reviews highlight the exquisite flavor and innovative preparation, set within a cozy and quiet atmosphere. Service receives mixed feedback; while some praise the attentive staff, others report tension or pacing issues. Value is a significant point of contention, with many guests finding the small portions overpriced relative to the cost. Additionally, the wine list is criticized for lacking local options, being predominantly French. Despite these drawbacks, the culinary creativity remains a strong draw for adventurous diners seeking a unique gastronomic experience away from major cities.
Suitable for diners seeking unique modern cuisine in a remote location who are open-minded about portion sizes and value.
