The Flintlock
Set inside a fine stone building overlooking a peaceful canal, this spacious, elegant restaurant is packed with charm. There are period features aplenty across the sitting area and the two dining rooms, where the self-taught chef serves dishes with a modern approach. Hake with fermented lettuce is something of a favourite, as are the fabulous Parker House roles, and puddings are a highlight too. Sweet, engaging service makes a visit all the more enjoyable, as does a stroll along the canal before dining.

The Flintlock in Cheddleton offers modern cuisine with canal views. Food quality is generally praised, particularly for BBQs, Sunday roasts, and vegetables, though some guests noted small portions or bland flavors. Service is mostly warm and accommodating, handling dietary needs well, despite occasional complaints about rushed table turnover. The atmosphere is relaxed and suitable for families. While many find good value, others feel the pricing does not always match the portion sizes or industrial surroundings.
Suitable for travelers seeking a relaxed canal-view dining experience and family gatherings.
