Before choosing where to stay

Best Areas to Stay

Base yourself in the town center or near Desa Dairy Farm for easy access to the famous vegetable market and stunning mountain views. These areas offer convenient short drives to the Kinabalu National Park entrance, making them ideal for exploring the region.

Transport & Connectivity

There is no airport in Kundasang. Travelers must reach Kota Kinabalu or Sandakan first, then take land transport. It is 15.6 km from Ranau town center and 6 km from Kinabalu National Park. With limited taxi availability, renting a car or arranging hotel transfers is highly recommended for mobility.

Best Season to Visit

The dry season from March to October offers the most stable weather, ideal for trekking and photography with clearer views of Mount Kinabalu. Temperatures can drop significantly at night due to the high elevation (almost 1,900m), so pack warm clothing regardless of the season.
