Where to Base
Stay in the town center to easily access the weekly Sunday tamu and immerse yourself in local culture. As it lies on the federal highway connecting Kota Kinabalu and Kudat, it is an ideal stopover for road trippers or long-distance bus travelers heading north.
Airport Connection
There is no local airport. Travelers must fly into Kota Kinabalu International Airport (BKI) and drive north along the federal highway, a journey taking approximately 1.5 to 2 hours. Renting a car or taking a long-distance bus is recommended to enjoy the coastal scenery.
Cultural Highlights
Focus on experiencing the Sunday Bajau market and the annual Tamu Besar. This is the best window to understand the traditional lifestyles of the West Coast Bajau and Dusun peoples. Hotel guests should visit early in the morning to feel the vibrant atmosphere of the open-air trade.
