Koszalin

Koszalin is a county-status city in northwestern Poland, situated in the West Pomeranian Voivodeship. Located just 12 kilometers south of the Baltic Sea coast and intersected by the Dzierżęcinka River, it serves as the capital of Koszalin County. Historically significant as a medieval seaport and the administrative capital of Central Pomerania from 1950 to 1998, Koszalin remains the region's largest city. It is a key industrial, cultural, and educational hub, hosting institutions such as the Koszalin University of Technology, the Polish Air Force Training Center, and the Polish Border Guard Academy. The city features the Gothic Cathedral, seat of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Koszalin-Kołobrzeg, and hosts an annual festival of choirs from the Polish diaspora. Strategically positioned on the main highway and railroad connecting the Tricity and Szczecin, Koszalin offers frequent-flyer travelers convenient access to both coastal leisure and regional business centers. Its blend of historical architecture, modern infrastructure, and proximity to the sea makes it a compelling destination for extended stays or transit.
