Where to Base
The Old Town and promenade areas near the beach are ideal bases. They offer walkable access to historical sites, restaurants, and the Baltic coastline, perfect for leisurely exploration without needing extensive transport.

Kołobrzeg is a historic port and spa city located on the south coast of the Baltic Sea in north-western Poland. Situated on the Parsęta River, it serves as the capital of Kołobrzeg County within the West Pomeranian Voivodeship. With a population of approximately 47,000, the city blends medieval heritage—dating back to its role as a diocese seat and Hanseatic League member—with modern resort amenities. Originally a Pomeranian settlement, it later expanded with German chartering under Lübeck law before becoming part of Poland post-1945. Today, it is renowned for its sandy beaches, well-preserved Old Town, and status as a popular spa destination. For frequent-flyer hotel travelers, Kołobrzeg offers a quieter alternative to larger Polish cities, combining cultural depth with coastal relaxation. The city’s compact layout makes it easily navigable, while its historical significance adds unique value to short stays. Whether visiting for business or leisure, guests can enjoy a serene atmosphere enriched by centuries of history, from the Prince-Bishops’ residence to the resilience shown during the 1807 siege. The surrounding region provides easy access to other West Pomeranian attractions, making it an ideal base for exploring the Baltic coast.

The smaller of two restaurants inside the Hotel New Skanpol in the centre of this Baltic Sea coastal town, Sublima is open throughout the day, with the offer stepping up a gear in the evening. Polish ingredients, classical French technique and subtle international flavours combine in dishes bursting with colour and flavour. The kitchen’s skill with fish cookery is particularly notable, as evidenced by terrific skrei cod with green asparagus, butter sauce and trout roe.
