Isla Grande is a small, historic corregimiento located in the Portobelo District of Colón Province, Panama, situated off the Caribbean coast. With a population of just over 1,000, it offers a serene escape from urban life. The island holds significant historical weight; it was named 'Isle and port of Provisions' by Christopher Columbus in 1502 during his final voyage. It also witnessed the tragic Blockade of Porto Bello in 1726/7, where British Admiral Francis Hosier lost 3,000 sailors to tropical disease. Today, the community is predominantly of African descent, tracing roots to enslaved people and Cimarrones.
