Where to Base
Given the island's linear shape, choose accommodation based on your itinerary. The northern section is closer to Iguape, while the south approaches Cananéia. As the entire area is an Environmental Protection Area, hotels are scattered along main roads. Verify specific locations in advance to plan activities efficiently.
Getting Around
There is no local airport. The nearest major gateways are São Paulo or Campinas. Access requires overland transport via bus or rental car. Driving is the most efficient way to navigate the 74-kilometer island and explore surrounding ecological sites like the Guará Area of Relevant Ecological Interest.
Best Season
With an average annual temperature of 24°C, the climate is mild year-round. Summer months offer warmer waters for beach leisure, while winter provides cooler temperatures ideal for eco-tourism and birdwatching. The off-season offers a quieter experience with fewer crowds.
