Friedrichroda is a charming town nestled at the northern foot of the Thuringian Forest in the Gotha district of Thuringia, Germany. The town serves as a gateway to the nearby Reinhardsbrunn, a beautiful ducal hunting seat built from the ruins of a Benedictine monastery founded in 1085. Since December 2007, the former municipalities of Ernstroda and Finsterbergen have been incorporated into Friedrichroda, expanding its area. Located 21 km by rail southwest of Gotha, it provides a quiet base for exploring the forest region.
