One draw of this restaurant is its beautiful location in the centre of the pretty old town on the Alb River, another is its chic, modern interior. The cuisine is based on high-quality ingredients and ranges from classics such as house-made maultaschen to international specialities such as barbecued octopus and burgers, and not forgetting the various tartare options. The waitstaff are friendly and well trained. In summer, the terrace overlooking the square is a delightful spot where you will be serenaded by the carillon music from the town hall tower.

A good place to come for unpretentious cuisine. The menu ranges from classics such as Wiener schnitzel or Berlin-style calf's liver to a "Gourmet Tradition" section featuring dishes such as saddle and shoulder of venison in pasta sheets, with tenderstem broccoli and an elderberry jus. There is also a selection of vegetarian dishes and a range of delicious desserts. Lovely old wooden floors, wood-panelled walls and pretty decorations make for a charming atmosphere. The verdant terrace is also inviting. Guestrooms are available in the adjoining Erbprinz hotel.

At lunchtime, people flock here for the bargain set menu with a choice of starters and mains. The feel of the place is both elegant and more casual, with a lovely leafy terrac

Hartmaier's Villa in Ettlingen offers international cuisine with farm-to-table ingredients. Reviews highlight excellent food quality, particularly tender meats, fresh salads, and well-paired wines, set within an elegant atmosphere suitable for special occasions. However, service experiences are polarized. While some guests praised genuine hospitality, many reported unfriendly, arrogant staff behavior that made them feel unwelcome, including discomfort for children. Additional criticisms include rushed meal pacing and overly frequent table clearing. Despite the appealing ambiance and high culinary standards, inconsistent service and perceived value issues significantly impact the overall dining experience.
Suitable for diners prioritizing food quality over consistent service, with a recommendation to verify staff attentiveness beforehand.

There have been some developments at Schwitzer's. In the newly refurbished rooms of the former fine dining restaurant with floor-to-ceiling windows affording views of the park grounds, diners are invited to embark on a culinary adventure that takes its cue from the seasons. Depending on the time of year, varying styles of cuisine are proposed – à la carte or as a three-course surprise set menu. Schwitzer's Hotel am Park has upscale guestrooms.
