Au Lion d'Or - Chez Théo
This pleasant and elegant restaurant has been run by the same family since 1928 and is now in the hands of the fifth generation! A historical monument frozen in time? Far from it – the chef puts a brilliant contemporary spin on the riches of the terroir. The pretty space is simple, cosy and utterly charming; however, in fine weather, head for the large covered terrace overlooking the flower-decked garden. A welcoming establishment where they take pride in what they do.

Au Lion d'Or - Chez Théo offers modern Alsatian cuisine focused on fresh, seasonal ingredients. Food quality receives mixed reviews; many praise the refined menus, excellent wine selection, and classic dishes like asparagus, foie gras, and beef fillet. However, some critics note modest portions and inconsistent flavors. Service is polarizing: positive experiences highlight friendly hospitality, while negative ones cite cold welcomes, slow pacing, and lack of basic amenities like salt. The atmosphere ranges from warm and traditional with tablecloths to perceived coldness. While valued for its authentic regional style and Bib Gourmand recognition, the dining experience can be uneven depending on service execution. It suits travelers seeking genuine local cuisine who prioritize food quality over consistent service standards.
Recommended for diners prioritizing authentic Alsatian flavors and wine, though expect variable service responsiveness.
