The city is compact, with major sights within walking distance. For coastal visits, Caldera is about 65 km away via bus or car. Explore the historic railway heritage on foot, visiting the national monument station built in 1850.
Best Season
With only 12mm of annual rainfall, Copiapó is extremely dry. Summer offers warm weather ideal for exploration, while winter can be foggy. Due to the desert location, expect significant temperature drops at night; dress accordingly and plan strenuous activities for cooler parts of the day.
