Where to Base
Prioritize accommodations near the coast to access the unique dual ocean-lake beach experience. Given the sand's natural coolness due to low mica content, staying close to the shore allows you to fully enjoy the comfortable beach environment without the intense heat found elsewhere.
Getting Around
While there is no major international airport directly in Cabo Frio, connectivity is primarily via road from Rio de Janeiro. For exploring the region, including the northern Cabo de São Tomé, renting a car or using taxis is recommended due to the spread-out nature of attractions along the coastline.
Best Season
The city is accessible year-round, but summer is particularly appealing. The unique sand remains cool even in strong sunlight, making it an excellent destination for sunbathing and water activities without the discomfort of extreme heat often experienced on other Brazilian coasts.
