Where to Base
Stay in the historic center. Most accommodations are boutique hotels or guesthouses in restored colonial mansions along cobblestone streets. Being centrally located allows easy walking access to the main plaza and church, ideal for morning or evening strolls when the heat is less intense.
Getting Around
The town is flat and compact, best explored on foot. Reaching Barichara from Bucaramanga Airport (BGA) takes approximately 1.5 to 2 hours by car. While rental cars are rarely needed within the town, hiring a driver for day trips to nearby canyons or hiking trails is recommended.
Best Season
The dry seasons (December to March and July) offer the best weather conditions. Clear skies enhance photography opportunities and outdoor exploration. During the rainy season, paths can become muddy, potentially complicating access to surrounding natural attractions.
