Where to Base
Santa Fe, in the southeast, is the tourism center with the highest concentration of hotels and dining options, making it the most convenient base for most visitors. Bantayan municipality, covering the central part, offers a quieter atmosphere with local amenities. Madridejos, in the north, provides a more secluded experience. For easy access to services, choose Santa Fe; for tranquility, consider the other two municipalities.
Getting Around
There is no airport on Bantayan Island. Travelers must first reach Cebu and then take a ferry or boat to access the island. Local transportation relies on jeepneys, motorcabs, and tricycles. Given the small area of approximately 108.77 square kilometers, moving between points is generally easy. Plan your transfer from the port to your accommodation in advance, as some beachfront properties may require short walks or rides.
Best Season
The dry season, from November to May, offers the best weather for beach activities and outdoor exploration. During the rainy season, heavy rainfall can affect ferry schedules and limit outdoor enjoyment. Given the island's low elevation, be mindful of typhoon seasons. Traveling during the dry months ensures more comfortable stays and reliable transportation links.
