Where to Base
Stay on the edge of the historic center or in the newer districts. The old town offers stunning cliffside views but features steep, narrow streets that can be challenging. Newer areas provide easier parking, flatter terrain, and convenient access to main attractions, balancing comfort with proximity.
Airport Connection
The nearest major airport is Malaga (AGP). The drive takes approximately 1 hour to 1 hour 15 minutes via the A-381. There is no direct rail service, so renting a car or taking a long-distance bus is recommended. Self-driving offers the most flexibility for exploring the surrounding Sierra de Cádiz.
Best Season
Spring and autumn offer mild temperatures, ideal for navigating the steep streets and outdoor sites. Summers can be hot and crowded, while winters are mild but some services may have reduced hours. Visit early morning or late afternoon to avoid peak heat and enjoy the best lighting for photography.
