Health
Côte d'Ivoire is hot and humid in much of the country; plan hydration, sun protection, and rest during peak heat. Use treated/bottled water, avoid risky ice/raw foods, and be cautious with street food. Malaria risk is countrywide; dengue, Zika, yellow fever and other mosquito-borne infections occur, so use repellent, covered clothing, screens/nets. Altitude is not usually a visitor concern.
Vaccinations
Consult a doctor or travel clinic well before travel. Be up to date on routine vaccines such as MMR, tetanus/diphtheria/pertussis, polio, flu and COVID-19. Travel clinics commonly review hepatitis A, typhoid, hepatitis B, rabies risk, meningococcal vaccine for dry-season/northern travel, and malaria prevention. Côte d'Ivoire requires a yellow-fever vaccination certificate for travelers aged 9 months or older; the vaccine is also recommended by travel-health authorities.
eSIM / connectivity
eSIM works for visitors mainly through international travel-eSIM providers; local tourist eSIM availability is not as consistently advertised as physical prepaid SIMs. The main local mobile networks are Orange Côte d'Ivoire, MTN Côte d'Ivoire and Moov Africa Côte d'Ivoire, with prepaid data SIMs commonly used after local ID registration. Expect best coverage in Abidjan and major towns; verify rural coverage and phone band/eSIM compatibility before arrival.
