Health
Use safe water and food hygiene; cholera and other diarrheal illness can occur. Mosquito-borne risks include dengue, chikungunya, Zika and malaria in some districts, but not Dhaka. Prevent bites day and night. Bangladesh is low-lying, so altitude is not a concern; heat, humidity, monsoon flooding and cyclone-season disruption can affect travel.
Vaccinations
Consult a doctor or travel clinic at least 1 month before travel. Be up to date on routine vaccines, including MMR, polio, flu, varicella, Tdap and COVID-19. CDC recommends hepatitis A, hepatitis B and typhoid for many travelers; consider Japanese encephalitis, rabies, cholera or malaria medicine depending on itinerary and activities. Yellow fever vaccine is not recommended for Bangladesh itself, but a certificate is required for travelers aged 1+ arriving from, or transiting over 12 hours in, a yellow-fever-risk country.
eSIM / connectivity
eSIM is available but not as frictionless as in some hubs. Grameenphone, Robi and Teletalk have eSIM services; major operators also sell prepaid data/SIM options via stores and airport or city channels. Expect passport/biometric registration for local mobile service, and confirm your phone supports the carrier bands. International travel eSIMs can be simpler for short stays, but local coverage and support vary by network and location.
