Winnipeg James Armstrong Richardson International Airport YWGCYWG

Winnipeg James Armstrong Richardson International Airport (YWG) is Manitoba’s main commercial airport and a practical prairie gateway rather than a major global alliance hub. Its role is regional and connective: domestic trunk routes across Canada, U.S. transborder service with preclearance, seasonal sun flying, and important links to northern Manitoba, northwestern Ontario and Nunavut. Calm Air, Perimeter/Bearskin and Cargojet have meaningful hub/base roles here; WestJet and Flair have a visible presence, but YWG is not an Air Canada, Star Alliance, SkyTeam or oneworld fortress hub. The airport is easy to use: almost all scheduled passenger airlines use the main terminal, while Perimeter Aviation operates from a separate terminal south of the main building. Downtown Winnipeg is close, so long layovers can realistically include The Forks or the Canadian Museum for Human Rights if weather, immigration and baggage timing cooperate.
