Toncontin International Airport TGUMHTG
Toncontín (TGU) is no longer Tegucigalpa’s main international gateway in the old sense. Since the late-2021 shift of scheduled international airline operations to Palmerola / Comayagua (XPL), TGU functions mainly as a close-in domestic and regional airport for the capital. It is useful for Honduran domestic hops, especially links such as Roatán, La Ceiba, San Pedro Sula and Puerto Lempira depending on the carrier schedule, with operators such as CM Airlines, Aerolíneas Sosa and Aviatsa appearing in current route references. It is not a major global hub and is not a oneworld, Star Alliance or SkyTeam hub; CM Airlines is locally based here, but alliance-style connectivity is limited. The airport is compact, with one practical passenger complex rather than a multi-terminal transfer campus. For most long-haul or North America/Central America connections, check XPL instead of assuming TGU.
