Luis Munoz Marin International Airport SJUTJSJ
Luis Muñoz Marín International Airport (SJU) is Puerto Rico’s main international gateway and the practical air bridge between the U.S. mainland, San Juan, smaller Puerto Rican islands, the U.S. Virgin Islands and parts of the wider Caribbean/Latin America. It is not a major oneworld/Star/SkyTeam alliance hub today. For frequent flyers, the airlines that shape the airport are JetBlue, which treats San Juan as an important focus city; Cape Air and other regional operators for short island hops; and Frontier, which has built a San Juan operating base. The airport is close to the city and comparatively easy to navigate, but connections can be slowed by U.S. Customs for international arrivals, USDA baggage inspection for departures from Puerto Rico to the U.S. mainland, and the fact that Terminal B check-in feeds multiple concourses. Same-ticket domestic connections can be straightforward, but self-connects, international-to-domestic transfers, and island-hopper flights deserve extra buffer.
