Shanghai Hongqiao International Airport SHAZSSS
Shanghai Hongqiao (SHA) is Shanghai’s closer-in airport and is best understood as a domestic and regional business airport, not the city’s main long-haul international gateway. It is a major Shanghai base for China Eastern and Shanghai Airlines, with strong presence from Juneyao and Spring Airlines; China Eastern/Shanghai Airlines give it a clear SkyTeam-heavy feel, while Air China and other domestic carriers also operate here. Most mainland domestic flights use Terminal 2, which is integrated with the Hongqiao rail/metro hub; Terminal 1 handles international, Hong Kong/Macau/Taiwan flights and selected domestic operators such as Spring, XiamenAir and Hebei. For frequent flyers, SHA’s practical advantage is ground access: Line 2 goes straight into central Shanghai, Line 10 is useful for older Puxi districts, Hongqiao Railway Station is next door to T2, and the Airport Link Line connects to Pudong airport from the T2-side rail station.
