Ramon Villeda Morales International Airport SAPMHLM
Ramón Villeda Morales International Airport (SAP), also known as La Mesa, is the main airport for San Pedro Sula and northern Honduras. It is one of Honduras’s busiest and best-connected airports, but it is not a large global alliance hub. Think of it as an international gateway and regional connector: U.S. services include carriers such as American, Delta, JetBlue, Spirit/Frontier and United; regional links are provided by airlines such as Avianca, Copa, CM Airlines, TAG, Tropic Air and Aerolíneas Sosa; and Air Europa links SAP with Madrid. Copa and Avianca provide useful Star Alliance connectivity through Panama City and San Salvador/Guatemala, but SAP itself is not their hub. The airport is compact: Terminals A and B are integrated in the same passenger building, so transfers are on foot rather than by train or shuttle. Facilities are practical rather than premium-heavy, and tight self-connections should be planned conservatively, especially when changing between international and domestic flights with immigration, baggage reclaim or re-check involved.
