Yangon International Airport (RGN) is Myanmar’s main air gateway and the busiest/largest airport in the country, with a mostly regional international network rather than long-haul hub scale. It is a base or hub for local carriers including Myanmar Airways International, Myanmar National Airlines, Mingalar Airline and Air Thanlwin, while global alliance airlines serve Yangon as spokes rather than using it as an alliance hub. The layout is straightforward: Terminal 1 handles international flights, Terminal 3 handles domestic flights, and Terminal 2 is best treated as a renovation/future-capacity terminal unless your airline specifically says otherwise. For the city, taxi or ride-hailing is usually the practical choice; downtown Yangon is about 19 km away and the drive commonly takes around 30–60 minutes depending on traffic. Transit is manageable but not frictionless: international-to-domestic connections normally mean immigration, baggage, customs and a terminal change, so build in buffer time, especially on separate tickets.
