Pittsburgh International Airport PITKPIT

Pittsburgh International Airport is the main airport for the Pittsburgh region, but it is no longer a major hub for American, Delta, United or any global alliance. Think of PIT as a primarily origin-and-destination airport with useful domestic coverage, regional links and a selective international network rather than a big connecting complex. Southern Airways Express treats PIT as a hub, Allegiant has an operating base here, and the airport also sees cross-border and transatlantic service such as Air Canada, British Airways, Icelandair and Aer Lingus. The biggest practical change for repeat travelers is the new landside terminal that opened in November 2025: check-in, security, arrivals, baggage and ground transport are in the new terminal, then passengers walk via the Skybridge into the older X-shaped airside terminal. The old underground people mover is gone. All gate concourses sit beyond the same security checkpoint, so most domestic gate-to-gate transfers are just a walk through the center core; non-precleared international arrivals use the international arrivals process and may need extra time for immigration, bags and re-screening.
