Santa Lucia Air Force Base N NLUMMSM
Santa Lucia Air Force Base N, better known to travelers as Felipe Ángeles International Airport or AIFA (NLU), is Mexico City’s newer secondary airport north of the city in Zumpango. It is not the main Mexico City hub: that role remains with MEX, especially for long-haul and alliance connectivity. NLU is more useful for domestic Mexico flying and selected regional international routes, with service from Mexicana, Viva, Volaris, Aeroméxico and a small group of Latin American/Caribbean operators. Do not plan it like a major alliance transfer airport: there is no broad SkyTeam/Star/Oneworld hub operation or flagship alliance lounge network here, and many itineraries involving Mexico City still require checking whether you are actually arriving at or departing from MEX instead.
