London Gatwick (LGW) is London’s second major international airport, but it is not a Heathrow-style global alliance hub. Think of it as a very strong point-to-point airport: easyJet is the largest airline and Gatwick is its largest base, while British Airways and BA Euroflyer give the South Terminal a meaningful oneworld/premium presence. The route mix is broad: heavy short-haul Europe, leisure and regional flying, plus selected long-haul services on carriers such as Emirates, Qatar Airways, Singapore Airlines, JetBlue, Norse Atlantic, BA and others. For frequent flyers, the practical appeal is simple: two terminals, a strong rail station at South Terminal, and enough lounges to make early departures tolerable. The main caution is connections. Gatwick advises at least 60 minutes for same-terminal connections when you already hold the onward boarding pass, and at least 90 minutes if changing terminals; international-to-international transit is landside, so check UK transit/entry rules and build in border and security time.
