La Aurora International Airport GUAMGGT
La Aurora International Airport (GUA) is Guatemala’s primary air gateway, in Zone 13 of Guatemala City about 6 km south of the centre. Treat it as a compact regional/international airport rather than a mega-hub: Avianca Guatemala and TAG are based here, Copa links GUA strongly to Panama, and the strongest alliance footprint is Star Alliance via Avianca, Copa and United. Nonstop flying is mostly to the US, Mexico, Central America, nearby regional points and a limited long-haul link such as Madrid. The passenger operation is effectively one main terminal complex, often described around Central and North concourses/terminal areas, so most connections are walkable, though some stands are remote. For the city, use an authorized taxi, ride-hail or hotel-arranged transfer; traffic is the variable, but central/Zone 10 trips are commonly in the 15-30 minute range outside bad congestion. GUA is workable for connections, but not a place to plan tight self-transfers: immigration, baggage reclaim, re-check and security can erase the advantage of the short walking distances.
