Faro Airport FAOLPFR

Faro Airport (FAO) is the Algarve’s main international gateway: useful, compact and heavily leisure-oriented, but not a classic alliance hub with banked connections. Expect a mostly point-to-point network led by low-cost and holiday carriers such as Ryanair, easyJet, Jet2, TUI and Transavia, plus selected full-service or seasonal links such as TAP, British Airways, Brussels Airlines, Condor and others. The airport uses one passenger terminal, split operationally into Schengen and non-Schengen flows after security/border control, so there is no terminal-transfer problem. For the city, taxi or app-based car is usually the easiest frequent-flyer move, taking roughly 10-15 minutes to central Faro in normal traffic; buses 14 and 16 link the airport with the city centre/bus station when schedules fit. FAO is not designed around long airside layovers: there is no major airside hotel or flagship airline lounge, so self-connecting passengers should build in extra time, especially when bags, separate tickets or passport control are involved.
