Chiang Mai International Airport CNXVTCC

Chiang Mai International Airport (CNX) is the main air gateway for Chiang Mai and much of Northern Thailand, but it is not a major global connecting hub and it is not an alliance hub. Frequent flyers should think of it as a compact regional airport with heavy domestic traffic, a strong low-cost-carrier presence led by Thai AirAsia/AirAsia alongside Thai Vietjet, Nok Air and Thai Lion, plus Bangkok Airways and Thai Airways on key domestic links. International flying is mostly regional within Asia, with carriers to places such as Taipei, Seoul, Singapore, Kuala Lumpur, Hong Kong and mainland China, plus selected longer regional links. The airport’s big advantage is convenience: it sits close to the Old City, and transfers between the domestic and international sides are short in distance, though immigration, baggage reclaim, re-check and security can still make self-connections slow.
