Bandaranaike International Airport (CMB) is Sri Lanka’s main international gateway, at Katunayake north of Colombo. It is the home base for SriLankan Airlines, a oneworld member, and also supports FitsAir, Cinnamon Air and a broad mix of Gulf, South Asian, Southeast Asian and selected long-haul services. For frequent flyers, CMB feels more like a compact national gateway and regional connection point than a mega-hub: most international-to-international connections use the same international terminal, while domestic flying is separate and needs more buffer. The most reliable way into central Colombo is a pre-arranged car, ride-hail or the official airport taxi via the Colombo–Katunayake Expressway; allow about 40–60 minutes in normal conditions, more at peak times or in rain.
