Budapest Ferenc Liszt International Airport (BUD) is Hungary’s main international gateway, but it is not a classic mega-hub in the Frankfurt/Doha sense. Since Malév’s collapse, BUD has leaned much more toward origin-and-destination and point-to-point flying, especially within Europe. Wizz Air is the key home carrier presence here, with Budapest as a major base/headquarters location, and Ryanair also uses BUD as a base. Full-service airlines link Budapest to major alliance hubs such as Frankfurt, Munich, London Heathrow, Paris CDG, Amsterdam, Istanbul, Doha and Dubai, while long-haul and near-long-haul service is selective rather than comprehensive.
