Kempegowda International Airport Bengaluru (BLR) is one of India’s key metro airports and the main air gateway for Bengaluru and much of southern Karnataka. It is strongly domestic and regional, but increasingly international: Air India and BIAL have a formal plan to develop Bengaluru as a southern India hub, and Air India is a Star Alliance carrier; IndiGo and the Tata-group airlines also have substantial BLR operations. For frequent flyers, the main operational point is terminal discipline. T1 is primarily domestic, while T2 is the newer “Garden Terminal” handling all international flights plus selected domestic operations, notably Air India/Air India Express and other assigned carriers. Always confirm the terminal on the airline app or boarding pass, especially for IndiGo, where domestic and international operations are split.
