Birmingham Airport BHXEGBB
Birmingham Airport (BHX) is the main international airport for the West Midlands, but it is not a major alliance connecting hub in the Heathrow/Frankfurt sense. It works best as a strong regional origin-and-destination airport, with based or significant operations from easyJet, Jet2.com, Ryanair and TUI, plus full-service links such as Emirates, Qatar Airways, Turkish Airlines, Air France/KLM, Lufthansa/SWISS/Brussels and others. The terminal is effectively one integrated passenger terminal: check-in is arranged by zones rather than separate airline terminals, security is centralised, and there is no landside terminal-transfer journey to plan. For Birmingham city centre, the usual best option is the free Air-Rail Link to Birmingham International station, then a frequent direct train to Birmingham New Street; the rail leg is about 10 minutes, with extra time for the airport people mover and walking. BHX is easy to use for departures, but less optimised for protected connections, so self-transfers should be planned cautiously.
