Maison Le ROZET

Between Morteau and La Chaux-de-Fonds, not far from the French-Swiss border, this restaurant welcomes diners to the heart of the Haut-Doubs mountains. In this family-run establishment, chef Hugues Droz practises the art of hospitality Franche-Comté style, as inherited from his father, who had learned it from his parents. On his new premises, he loves to ally terroir and innovation, promoting playful cuisine that "awakens the senses".

This inn on the edge of a forest in the heart of the Neuchâtel mountains is well known to fine food lovers, who flock here to enjoy heartwarming, honest cooking. Fish from the lake, game and more exotic ingredients set the scene on the flavoursome, adroitly crafted score. The lunchtime 3-course Midi Gourmet menu requires pre-ordering, as does the full-blown evening lineup. They organise regular theme evenings, like “Périgord black truffles” or “Shellfish and seafood”. Lovely guestrooms should you be able to stay overnight.

A few metres from the Swiss border, this Franche-Comté farmhouse built out of stone and old wood exudes serenity, just like its elegant guestrooms appointed in chalet style. On the menu, modern cuisine that highlights often regional produce.

With its resolutely relaxed ambience, this auberge is far from the traditional image of a high temple of gastronomy. Here, Marc Strebel, a young chef from the Valais, conjures up dishes very much inspired by a return to nature. Superb view of the lake from the terrace.
