This popular restaurant with a friendly atmosphere lies slightly outside the city, in a small village. In summer you can make the most of the wonderful terrace by the village fountain, in the shade of the chestnut trees. Bernhard Grubmüller and his kitchen team serve up a conventional and a vegetarian set menu, as well as à la carte dishes, including charcoal-grilled dry-aged beef from their own maturing cabinet. In its tasteful, beautifully decorated dining rooms, Gasthaus Spieker serves regional cuisine with a Mediterranean touch. The appealing menu whets the appetite with dishes such as "Spieker's fish soup" with trout from the Ems River and prawns, or medium-rare lamb rump with rosemary and lemon zest, thyme and red wine sauce, French beans with bacon, and potato gratin. Hans-Jörg Dunker and his team have long been synonymous with quality and Westphalian cuisine with an international twist. The restaurant interior is attractive and cheerful, having been given a skilful modern makeover, but care has been taken to leave the traditional character of the building intact. One of the chef's specialities is the wonderful fish and shellfish soup with aioli, bread and Parmesan. A gorgeous terrace for summer. There is also a charming hall available for festivities.

Torben Tönsing, scion of a well-known family of restaurateurs in Herford, took over this restaurant from his parents in 2017. He focuses on contemporary cuisine that draws on both regional and international influences. The 17C half-timbered building has a charming atmosphere – food is served on different levels, and in summer the secluded terrace comes into its own. This restaurant takes its name from the half-timbered façade of Hotel Stadt Kassel, in which it is housed. Located in the town centre, the building dates back to the 17C. The cosy interior is a harmonious blend of modern design and historical elements such as exposed wooden beams and brickwork. In this setting, contemporary seasonal cuisine is served as a three- to five-course set menu or à la carte. To top it all off, you have a friendly and dedicated front-of-house team, as well as an exceptional wine list comprising over 1 500 labels, including some outstanding Rieslings from Germany.

When it comes to the setting, the lovingly decorated vaulted cellar is really cosy, and the terrace by the castle pond is fantastic!
