This charming restaurant occupies a former cereal and wine storehouse which has been completely remodelled in Faro’s historic centre. The cooking of chef Leonel Pereira, a native of the Algarve, is based around seasonal ingredients with a strong focus on creativity and flavour. The menu is divided into different sections: Check-in, Cozinhados no Tacho, Momentos Especiais and Check-out. Behind the name “austa”, a Latin term meaning “south wind”, lies, poetically, a veiled homage to the Algarve region and, above all, the intention to be a breath of fresh air in Almancil’s gastronomic landscape. In this restaurant with an alternative spirit (seen in its music, ambience and the terrace - which can even feel like a chill-out space, set in a rural-residential setting, you will find an appealing contemporary proposal. An elegant establishment, not without glamour, designed for an exclusive clientele who value both the atmosphere (there is a pianist in the room and the kitchen is on view) and the gastronomic experience. The proposal, offered solely à la carte, revolves around classic French-inspired cooking, very much in line with the famous 1970s Nouvelle Cuisine. You will find iconic dishes from that era (such as Beef Wellington or Madagascar-vanilla Crème brûlée) recreated from the original recipes, while incorporating a contemporary touch.
