Keflavik International Airport KEFBIKF

Keflavik International Airport (KEF) is Iceland’s main international gateway and Icelandair’s transatlantic hub, built around Europe–Iceland–North America flows rather than a global-alliance mega-hub. Icelandair is not a member of Star Alliance, oneworld or SkyTeam; domestic Iceland services mainly use Reykjavik Airport (RKV), close to the city centre, so treat KEF–RKV as a ground transfer, not an airside connection. KEF has one passenger terminal, with Schengen and non-Schengen flows separated by passport control. For Reykjavik, the most straightforward option for most travelers is Flybus to BSÍ Bus Terminal, with a typical ride of about 45 minutes; taxis, rental cars and public buses also operate. Connections can be very compact on protected Icelandair itineraries, but self-connectors should build in real buffer for immigration, baggage, weather and the 50 km road trip into town.
