Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport CANZGGG

Guangzhou Baiyun (CAN) is South China’s major gateway and a core Greater Bay Area hub, with China Southern as the dominant home carrier. China Southern is no longer in a global alliance, so CAN is best understood by airline and terminal rather than a simple alliance map. As of July 2026, the airport has been reshuffled around the new Terminal 3: T2 remains the main China Southern terminal, while T3 handles most carriers moved from the former T1 operation, including many international and regional services. T1 has suspended passenger operations. For the city, Metro Line 3 from T2/Airport North is usually the easiest public-transport choice into Tianhe in roughly 45 minutes; from T3, use the intercity rail or shuttle connection first, or go direct by taxi/coach if timing matters. For connections, same-ticket China Southern transfers can be very efficient when protected and guided, but self-connections or terminal changes need a much larger buffer.
