Amsterdam Airport Schiphol (AMS) is the Netherlands’ main international gateway and a major European hub, especially for KLM, KLM Cityhopper and SkyTeam. It works as both a long-haul connecting airport and a dense European feeder hub, with additional activity from Transavia, easyJet and other point-to-point carriers. The useful thing for transit passengers: Schiphol is built around a single-terminal concept rather than separate terminal buildings. Departure Halls 1, 2 and 3 feed different piers, and most transfers are by walking, with passport control and sometimes security depending on Schengen/non-Schengen flow and origin. For the city, the train is usually the cleanest choice: the station sits under Schiphol Plaza and Amsterdam Centraal is typically about 15–20 minutes away.
