If you’re looking for a restaurant with plenty of innate charm, this could be the perfect option for you. Hytra is located inside the lush garden of Megaron Music hall, in a modern building that blends the fine aspects of contemporary design, the breathtaking view of Athens and the Athenian sky. Housing a balcony, a unique dining experience is offered under the stars and a warm, atmospheric inside dining area where guests can enjoy memorable dining experiences. The contemporary-style Greek cuisine on offer here, featuring fine textures and meticulous presentation, is based around Greek ingredi

Tudor Hall

Modern Cuisine, Creative · ★ Michelin

If the prospect of lunch or dinner on the elegant terrace of a hotel appeals to you, with the added bonus of background piano music and the eternal Acropolis as a backdrop, Tudor Hall is definitely a good option, especially for a romantic candlelit dinner – but make sure you book ahead. Here, on the 7th floor of the King George Hotel, next to the central Syntagma Square, chef Nikos Livadias showcases his contemporary version of Greek cuisine, based on a concise à la carte menu plus a tasting menu. The end result is a superb combination of well-balanced dishes that display strong technical abil

There are just a few restaurants capable of creating a connection between food, nature and a love of one’s country, but here chef Tasos Mantis manages to express his full passion for all three through his cooking. The experience starts with a presentation of the stars of the show here, namely the aromatic herbs used in Soil’s dishes, many of which are sourced from the vegetable garden tended by the chef’s father. The cuisine is highlighted on a single tasting menu which showcases creativity and quality, which can be enjoyed either at the chef’s table, in the bright lounge or in the pleasant wi

The Zillers Rooftop Gastronomy

This restaurant occupies the former family home of the German architect Ernst Zillers, who came to Athens to design some of its public buildings, fell in love with the city and remained here for the rest of his life. The building, which is situated next to the Greek Orthodox cathedral and has now been converted into a hotel (Zillers Boutique Hotel), boasts a rooftop terrace and multi-purpose Roof Garden with fine view of the cathedral and the Acropolis. The Zillers restaurant is only open in the evening and chef Vasilis Roussos offers two tasting menus: Synecdoche and Synthesis, both with crea

In this elegant restaurant close to a busy square behind the ancient Panathenaic Stadium, enjoy highly professional service, attractive vaulted dining rooms, and two Mediterranean-inspired terraces perfect for alfresco dining and a romantic candlelit supper. The cooking here is centred around elaborate and highly visual contemporary French cuisine that is showcased via an array of à la carte dishes as well as on an enticing “Discovery” tasting menu. Seasonal produce is very much to the fore here, although some ever-popular ingredients (crab, langoustine, lamb, chocolate etc) feature all year r

Located at the foot of the Parthenon, this restaurant comes as something of a surprise for various reasons. Firstly, for the stunning view from its terrace; secondly, for its setting, in a historic building that was once the country’s first inn, with a decor that ensures a unique experience enabling guests to view its historic vestiges through the glass floor in the dining room; and, lastly, its cuisine, the main attraction, which comes courtesy of chef Patron Petros Dimas and which showcases the country’s gastronomic heritage through dishes that are creative and impeccable technique. A unique and special experience in which the chef does the cooking next to your table or at the wood-fired grill in front of you while you are seated at the counter. In addition, there’s also a bakery at the front of the establishment offering delicacies baked in ovens distributed around the room, that dispense their enticing aromas to add to the sensorial experience. Renowned chefs Giannis Loukakis and Spiros Pediaditakis run this small space in the charming Pangrati district of the city, where the young and relaxed vibe provides the backdrop for uncomplicated cuisine that is nevertheless ful

This restaurant boasts a concept that takes guests back in time thanks to its focus on the flavours of bygone days. At Pharaoh you won’t find modern cookers as every dish here is cooked using wood or charcoal as in olden days, endowing everything with a sense of simplicity and authenticity. The decor is a show in itself, with its combination of modern and industrial styles, open-view kitchen, plus a spacious balcony on which to enjoy your meal. Chef Manolis Papoutsakis’ cooking revisits Greece’s culinary traditions, but with a contemporary touch, as witnessed in dishes such as Tarama with bott
