This charming restaurant in the Salerno hinterland is the creation of a passionate duo: Salvatore in the kitchen and Federica in the dining room. With just a few glass‑topped tables set beneath a lofty ceiling that recalls the historical character of the building, the atmosphere is intimate and enhanced by Federica’s attentive service (Service Award 2024) and her thoughtful storytelling of the wine list, which includes excellent selections by the glass. Salvatore presents a predominantly seafood‑based cuisine, offering contemporary interpretations of local ingredients and recipes. His techniqu

Follow your satnav and you’ll easily find this private residence situated just outside the village. The restaurant is family run and furnished in classic style, with an attractive veranda room overlooking the garden. The friendly owner serves regional cuisine, all carefully prepared using top-quality local ingredients, some of which (such as the delicious lemons and excellent San Marzano tomatoes that appear in a number of dishes) are grown in the restaurant’s own orchard and kitchen garden. Our inspector particularly enjoyed the ravioli di genovese served with onions and pecorino cheese.

Recently re-opened under new management, this charming restaurant winds its way from room to room until you finally arrive at the palazzo’s old cellars, the jewel in its crown. The cuisine here has quickly made a name for itself, focusing on strong links with regional traditions and showcasing local favourites on a menu full of tempting options, including salumi, local vegetables, pasta dishes, grilled meat options and typical local ingredients such as San Marzano tomatoes. The delicious cuisine pays tribute to the fine culinary traditions of Campania.

The area around Montoro, famous for its cipolla ramata (copper onion), is now also home to a gourmet restaurant thanks to young chef Francesco Cerrato, whose cuisine is inspired by locally sourced ingredients from this inland region as well as fish and seafood from the coast. The menu also features creative, carefully prepared dishes served by the attentive young staff. Minimalist-style ambience.

Casa Rispoli

Overlooking a piazza surrounded by picturesque arcades in the historic centre (a walk around this district is highly recommended), this restaurant run by the Rispoli family continues to uphold its fine-dining traditions. Although a few meat dishes feature on the menu, it is its fish options (mainly traditional, such as tuna with mussels and escabeche-style aubergine) and occasionally imaginative desserts, such as the cheesecake with toffee and raspberry, that are the main attraction here.

The double “u” in this restaurant’s name is not a mistake but was added with the intention of evoking the flow and sound of water that can heard from afar. Here, chef Angelo Borghese demonstrates his passion for the sea through his delicious, precise and personalised recipes in which the highest quality fish takes centre stage. The escarole and anchovy pizza with colatura mayonnaise is excellent, as is the selection of raw and marinated fish dishes.
