Maerz - Das Restaurant
Creative French, Modern Cuisine · ★ Michelin
€€€€
Modern tastes meet regional flair with harmonious results – both in the food and the aesthetic of the fine dining restaurant of the hotel Rose, run by brothers Benjamin and Christian Maerz. With its beautiful warm wood panelling and clean lines, the interior is at once cosy, trendy and chic. The cuisine, too, draws on regional culinary tradition as well as contemporary trends, in the form of a set menu dubbed "Heimweh/Fernweh". The chef uses first-rate ingredients sourced from the region, refined with spices from all over the globe, cleverly married in dishes such as "sturgeon in nori, unagi e

Bachmaier
Farm to table
€€€
Ulrike and Otto Bachmaier have been running their restaurant for many years. The modern decor is delightful and you can watch the river traffic on the Neckar through the floor-to-ceiling windows, as well as from the terrace. Friendly and adept service comes courtesy of the lady of the house while the chef-patron delivers seasonal dishes such as Obsiblue prawn soup with ginger, or braised shoulder of locally hunted venison, glazed in the pan, with Swede, palm tree kale and celeriac. A vegetarian set menu is available by prior arrangement. Good wine pairings. Tip: Book well in advance.

Umberto Scuccia is a well-known figure in Heilbronn. Here on the 12th floor of the WTZ Tower he runs an upmarket, minimalist-style restaurant offering both pleasantly pared-down Italian cuisine with the accent on top-quality produce and a wonderful view of the city.

Landhaus Rössle
Classic French, International
€€
Expect ambitious cuisine is in a classic/French vein with regional and seasonal influences – dishes include the likes of seared scallops on orange fennel, and the classic Zwiebelrostbraten (beef and onions in gravy). You can dine à la carte or opt for the set menu – available in an omnivore or vegetarian version. Attentive and charming service is the forte of the lady of the house. The interior is modern and elegant, and in winter tables by the fireplace are very much in demand. In summer, the garden terrace is a boon. There are attractive rooms for overnight guests.

This handsome inn steeped in history has been given a successful modern makeover. Inside, the pleasant decor is characterised by clear lines, warm wooden finishings and a palette of neutrals; outside, behind the building, the pretty, secluded terrace is extremely inviting. The menu features typical Swabian dishes, but also more sophisticated international dishes. You can opt for a set menu or select dishes from the à la carte menu.

This charmingly laid-back restaurant serves dishes made with regional and seasonal ingredients, drawing on influences from the Mediterranean and beyond. The best way to experience the culinary artistry is through the six-course set menu. There is also a popular lunch deal that changes weekly. In the summer, the terrace on the charming little market square beckons, whether for a meal, a glass of wine or a coffee. The service is friendly and attentive. Across the street is the Marktkeller brasserie and wine bar. They also put on regular themed evenings. Tip: Take a stroll through the enchanting

Here, traditional Swabian cuisine meets global influences, blending local and international flavours. Enjoy cordial service in the comfort of either the main dining room steeped in history or the charming inner courtyard. The kitchen serves up seasonally influenced dishes. One of the most tempting dishes is the house classic: Swabian Zwiebelrostbraten (fried beef and onions in gravy) with maultaschen, spaetzle and salad. Chic guestrooms are available for overnight stays. On Tuesday evenings, the restaurant is only open to hotel patrons.
