For over a century, and from generation to generation, Quintilio has acted as a junction between two beautiful regions, Liguria and Piedmont – and not just in a geographical sense. These regions take pride of place on the wine list (overseen by the friendly and talented owner Lorena) as well as on the menu, which is created daily with dishes made from top-quality local ingredients full of flavour. Regional specialities such as plin, Ligurian-style rabbit tortelli, risottos, vitello tonnato (veal) and brain are all skilfully reinterpreted with a modern twist by owner-chef Luca Bazzano.

Occupying a 17C olive oil press in the heart of a charming medieval village, this restaurant has retained its old stone mill and wooden press in its vaulted dining room, which provides the backdrop for imaginative fish and seafood dishes prepared using top-quality local ingredients. The delicious Italian-style ceviche is made from the catch of the day, while the Mare Mare mixed fish dish is baked in a casserole with cherry tomatoes, courgettes and bay leaves. If you’re looking for a simpler option, try the I Torchiettibistro on the corner of the same street.

A friendly and welcoming little restaurant in the heart of the town’s historic centre. It’s no surprise that the specialities here focus mainly on fish and seafood, with an emphasis on Mediterranean cuisine, homemade pasta and the use of extremely fresh ingredients – the menu changes daily depending on market availability. The charming outdoor space boasts tables set out along the small pedestrianised street.

Situated amid the picturesque alleyways of the historic centre, this beautiful restaurant boasts an elegant decor and a warm, friendly welcome. Here, the young, talented chef (originally from Campania but now settled in Liguria) serves Mediterranean cuisine with a traditional regional influence cleverly added to each dish. Our favourite dishes included the excellent trenette pasta with octopus ragù and 24-month-aged parmesan fondue, and the timeless “brandacujun”, which is freshly prepared and served at your table by the chef himself.

Decorated in the same simple and rustic style as the Hotel Rosita in which it is housed, this restaurant boasts an attractive terrace overlooking the sea and the coast (call in advance to book one of the tables with the best view), which more than compensates for the narrow, winding road that you have to follow to get here. The delicious cuisine is regional in flavour, including seafood options such as the excellent stuffed baby squid in a sauce served with mashed potatoes, and meat dishes that include a tasty rabbit casserole.

Hidden down an alleyway in the town centre, this friendly trattoria boasts an attractive ceiling with exposed brickwork. An excellent address for fans of Ligurian cuisine, fish and seafood. House desserts include sour orange semifreddo.
