Chef-Owner Daniel Berlin has fulfilled a dream here at VYN, by taking a former farmhouse on a hillside in the southeast of Sweden and turning it into a secluded haven for guests to both dine and stay. Its name translates as ‘View’, and that couldn’t be more fitting, as its charming landscaped garden stretches down to the coast below. Wood and stone lead the way in the dining room, providing the perfect match for the cooking, where the 20 or so courses echo the seasons. Delicate, technically accomplished dishes could include shrimps with sea urchin roe, horseradish cream and yellow plum purée.

The open kitchen takes centre stage at this buzzy all-day café/bakery/deli, which has been wholeheartedly embraced by the locals. Lunchtime snacks and salads make room for generously sized, boldly flavoured Mediterranean dishes at dinner. Most of the wines on the concise list are available on-tap.

Owned and run by a friendly couple – Olle, who cooks, and Sophie, who looks after the service – this unpretentious city centre bistro has certainly stood the test of time, having opened back in 2015. This is thanks, in part, to the flavour-packed dishes, where good quality regional ingredients are brought together in harmonious, visually appealing combinations. Upstairs it’s more about drinks, so if you’re here to dine then head down the spiral staircase to the rustic cellar. The well-balanced tasting menus come in Mixed, Pescetarian and Vegetarian versions and are created daily from the best local produce available.
