An old, carefully restored road worker’s house on the Alzaia Naviglio Pavese canal is the setting for this modern, stylish restaurant where Alessandra and Matteo welcome guests in a graceful, elegant and yet informal manner. The menu features contemporary meat and fish dishes accompanied by a good choice of wines. This old monastery in Moirago, overlooking the Naviglio Pavese canal, was founded in 1250 and converted into an inn as early as 1478. Centuries may have passed, but the tradition of hospitality continues in the building’s enclosed painted portico, as well as in its two warm and atmospheric dining rooms. The chef’s Puglian origins explain the abundant use of vegetables and raw fish dishes, while in winter the cuisine takes on a more northern Italian flavour. Good selection of wines by the glass.

This skilfully restored 18C farmhouse has all the authentic charm of the Milanese lowland region, with each corner telling a story, from the intimate lounges to the delightful room with a large stone fireplace. There’s also a bright, welcoming veranda-style space which is perfect at any time of year. The menu features an array of meat and fish dishes, including dishes that celebrate Mediterranean cuisine and Milanese traditions alike. The well-stocked wine cellar (which can be visited) will delight wine-enthusiasts thanks to its excellent selection of interesting labels.

Situated on the Naviglio away from Milan’s bustling nightlife, this rustic-style restaurant is decorated with a profusion of wood. As the name suggests, fish and seafood take pride of place on the menu, with a good choice of antipasti to whet the appetite, as well as inviting trays of raw fish dishes (shared by the whole table), followed by delicious traditional pasta and grilled options.
