As settings go, few restaurants can top this. Even the drive here is impressive, passing extensive well-kept gardens and grounds before reaching the imposing Zamek Książ castle. In its former gatehouse, up a spiral stone staircase, sits this delightful eatery in the old library. Well-crafted and wallet-friendly dishes ensure you get plenty for your money, with satisfying flavours bursting from the likes of Kwaśnica soup or chicken supreme with polenta cake. The team are charming and the minstrels’ gallery is the perfect spot for private parties.

As you enter this restaurant at the heart of the sprawling Dworzysko estate, it very quickly sets out its stall. A fridge filled with prime meats, along with animal heads lining the walls, add to the feel of an old-school hunting lodge, and indeed Polish meats are at the core of the menu. Steaks of various shapes and sizes are a feature, aged in-house and delivering plenty of flavour. The delightful team are genuinely eager to please and do their bit to enhance the experience.
